A little history about me
I started out as a freelance Graphic Designer back in the early ’80s. During that time I focused on print design and production, working with clients such as financial institutions, product manufacturing companies, and local start-up businesses.In 1997, as Director of Marketing and Design for the Kenney Mfg Company, I branched out into Web design. Since then I have worked on a wide variety of Web sites such as Fleet Boston Financial, GE Financial Network, Suretrade.com, Quick and Reilly, Walmart, Toyota Scion, Sane Solutions, and the list goes on…Between the years of 1997 thru 2002 I worked my way up the Information Technology corporate ladder by working for several subsidiaries of Fleet Boston Financial. Starting out as the Director of Web Development for Fleet’s start-up online brokerage firm, then called Suretrade.com, I was one of 35 initial employees who developed Suretrade.com into a 750 person company with assets over three billion… yes that’s a “b”. Eventually I migrating over to another subsidiary of Fleet, Quick and Reilly, and became their Senior Technical Architect overseeing part of the integration of their online brokerage system with Fleet’s online banking system. April of 2002 - I and and my entire team were “downsized” by Fleet. Times were good in the late ’90’s - the pay was excellent and the job was interesting.
By August 2002, after a well deserved hiatus, I began working as the Advertising Director for a large multi-franchise automobile dealership. I oversaw creative and production for all print, radio, television/cable, and multiple Web sites.
After two years of directing tv, radio, and general advertising efforts it was time to return to my true calling, web design and development. In March 2004 I accepted the position of Director of Web Development for the State or Rhode Island.
Between the years of 2002 thru 2007 I joined forces with two other great developers and formed a Web Design and Web Hosting company called RawData Corporation. We built the hosting technology from the ground up and performed development services in the evenings. We were becoming one of the fasted growing companies in Rhode Island as noted by the “Book of Lists” published by the Providence Business Journal. In April 2007 we sold the company for a sizable profit.As of April 2006, I work for one of the companies I helped create while owning RawData. My current employer, RXinsider.com focuses on various employment and B2B online marketing services for the Pharmacy industry.I still freelancing on the side. I focusing on data centric web applications and Web 2.0 user interfaces, but I still find time to poke around learning any new cutting edge technology I find interest in.
